Zonos technology will streamline USPS international trade by making it simpler, said Daniel Johnson, co-founder and chief revenue officer of Zonos.

“This is a pivotal moment for Zonos as it validates our product, especially with the USPS delivering the majority of international shipping or mail,” Johnson said.

Johnson said the new agreement with the Postal Service will also bring more jobs to the St. George de Zonos location.

“We are excited about Tech Ridge and creating opportunities for people to live, work and play in St. George. This will help our business create new employee hiring opportunities in St. George,” Johnson said.

Johnson said the USPS originally approached Zonos three years ago when the agency was looking for a solution for cross-border shipments. Zonos will help calculate import duties and taxes on behalf of the USPS.

“A lot of people may feel like the post office just delivers letters or only does domestic mailings,” Johnson said. “But there are many third-party and/or postal agencies and even private companies that operate the USPS postal network for cross-border shipments.”

USPS handles 46% of global mail, he said.

Johnson said cross-border trade occurs when the shipment crosses the border of two different countries. This often happens when people or companies ship outside of the United States. He said countries outside of states that use the USPS network can benefit from Zonos’ cross-border trade software.

The service will use Application programming interface (API), a type of software which allows two applications to talk to each other. The APIs will power USPS services with new features to calculate duties, tax quotes and automate international shipping. USPS integration with Zonos APIs will provide customers with transparency and insight into the total cost of international shipping.

Zonos Founder and CEO Clint Reid said hundreds of thousands of small and large businesses ship internationally with USPS.

“We are grateful for the trust the Postal Service has placed in Zonos’ cross-border activation capabilities,” Reid said. “We look forward to helping create and implement USPS’ global technology solutions. »

Johnson said the new contract also creates an opportunity for the St. George Company to work with other postal agencies around the world. Zonos recently opened an office in Gold Coast, Australia. All carriers and consolidators can use Zonos postal services and solutions as a landed cost and cross-border technology provider.

“What’s exciting for us is that it opens up a lot of doors for us to do similar integrations with other postal agencies overseas,” Johnson said.

When people or businesses ship items internationally, the charges are usually higher than just shipping. Johnson said Zonos can calculate these fees without giving up control of a business or wasting time with manual quotes.

“Part of transparency is making sure that all parties involved in a transaction know what all charges and only shipping charges are against,” he said.

According to the company’s website, Zonos provides software that enables online retailers, marketplaces, logistics providers, trade organizations, online marketplaces, and postal carriers to grow their businesses at scale. world. Zonos has offices in St. George and Australia.
